SAT for IIIT Hyderabad & BITS Pilani Admissions
Use your SAT score — not JEE or BITSAT — to secure admission to two of India's most prestigious engineering institutions through the DASA & ISA routes.
DASA & CIWG Eligibility — Are You Qualified?
Both DASA and ISA routes are open to students with international or NRI status. If you or your parent holds any of the following designations, SAT is your path into India's top tech colleges — without JEE.
Students holding an Indian passport or OCI/PIO card who have been residing abroad qualify directly under both DASA and ISA schemes.
Children of Indian workers employed in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Eligible even if the student studied Class 11 & 12 in India — parent's Gulf employment is what qualifies you.
Students with foreign citizenship may also apply under both DASA (IIIT Hyderabad) and ISA (BITS Pilani) schemes using SAT scores as the primary criterion.
Two Routes, One Exam — Your SAT Opens Both Doors
DASA and ISA are independent schemes — you can apply to both simultaneously. Here's everything you need to know about each route, the institutes they cover, and how to navigate them.
DASA Scheme — IIIT Hyderabad
Direct Admission of Students Abroad scheme operated centrally. IIIT Hyderabad is among the few institutions still accepting SAT under DASA even as most NITs moved to JEE Main.
ISA Route — BITS Pilani
International Student Admission route lets foreign nationals, OCI/PIO, and CIWG students use SAT scores in place of BITSAT — India's most competitive private engineering test.
Super-Scoring Accepted
Both IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani allow super-scoring — combine your best Math score from one attempt with your best ERW score from another, maximising your composite.
CIWG Fee Advantage
CIWG students at IIIT Hyderabad pay domestic-level tuition fees rather than international rates — a massive financial advantage worth lakhs per year for qualifying Gulf families.
Score Deadline Aware
For DASA 2025, SAT scores must be received by IIIT Hyderabad by 31 May 2025 using College Board code 6997. Plan your SAT dates at least 3–4 weeks before the deadline.
No Essay Required
Neither IIIT Hyderabad DASA nor BITS Pilani ISA require the SAT Essay section. Only your combined Math + ERW score (out of 1600) counts for admission ranking.
"If a student completed Class 11 & 12 in India, but their parent works in the Gulf — are they still eligible under CIWG quota?"
Schooling location does not determine CIWG eligibility. What matters is the parent's employment status in a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country.

Why Students Fail to Get In — And How to Make Sure You Don't
Most rejections under DASA and ISA are avoidable. These are the six mistakes we see again and again — and the exact fixes for each.
Missing the Score Deadline
DASA requires SAT scores to be received by IIIT Hyderabad by 31 May — not just taken. Students who sit the SAT in May often don't realise College Board takes 2–3 weeks to dispatch official reports.
Plan your last SAT attempt no later than early May. Use CB code 6997 immediately after your test.
Treating SAT Like Any Entrance Exam
Students trained for JEE or NEET often over-rotate on advanced problem-solving and neglect the ERW section entirely. DASA ranks on a combined 1600 — a 600 ERW with a 800 Math is still only 1400.
Balance both sections from day one. A 50-point ERW gain is often easier than 50 points in Math.
Not Leveraging Super-Scoring
Many applicants sit the SAT once and accept their composite score. Both IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani accept super-scores — meaning your best Math from one attempt plus your best ERW from another.
Plan 2–3 attempts across different dates. Even a single strong section retake can lift your composite by 60–80 points.
Wrong or Missing Documentation
CIWG applicants regularly get rejected at the portal stage for submitting incorrect Gulf residency documents or outdated NRI/OCI certificates. The DASA portal is unforgiving — a wrong upload means disqualification.
Start document collection 6–8 weeks before the application window. EduQuest provides a complete checklist per category.
Applying to Only One Institute
Students fixated on IIIT Hyderabad miss BITS Pilani's ISA route entirely — or vice versa. Both accept SAT, both are world-class, and both have different cut-offs and application portals.
Apply to both DASA (IIIT-H) and ISA (BITS Pilani) in parallel. The SAT score works for both. Double your chances.
Self-Studying Without Strategy
Generic SAT prep books and YouTube tutorials don't account for the DASA minimum threshold, the digital adaptive format, or the specific score band that puts you in a competitive merit rank at IIIT Hyderabad.
DASA-focused coaching adapts your prep to the actual target — not a generalised 1600 ceiling chase.
Don't let an avoidable mistake cost you your seat. EduQuest's DASA & ISA programme is built around these exact failure points.

Studied 11th & 12th in India? You May Still Qualify Under CIWG
“If a student has completed Class 11 & 12 in India, but their parent works in the Gulf — are they still eligible under CIWG quota?”
Schooling location does not determine CIWG eligibility. What matters is the parent's employment status in a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country and meeting the CIWG residency requirements.
How to Maximise Your SAT Score for DASA & ISA

🎉 Congratulations — you're in!Frequently Asked Questions — DASA, CIWG & ISA
The questions we hear most from students and parents — answered clearly.
The minimum required SAT score for IIIT Hyderabad under DASA is <strong>1070 out of 1600</strong>, combining Math and ERW sections. Super-scoring — taking the best Math score from one attempt and the best ERW score from another — is accepted, which means you have multiple opportunities to reach this threshold.
Yes. Schooling location does not affect CIWG eligibility. As long as the parent has been employed in a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country and meets the CIWG residency requirements, the student qualifies — even if they completed Class 11 and 12 in India under CBSE, ICSE, or a State Board.
No. Under the ISA (International Student Admission) route, BITS Pilani accepts SAT scores as a complete replacement for BITSAT. This applies to Foreign Nationals, PIO/OCI card holders, and children of Indian workers in Gulf countries. All three campuses — Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad — are covered.
Super-scoring means that both IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani will combine your <strong>best Math score</strong> from one SAT attempt with your <strong>best ERW score</strong> from another attempt to produce your highest possible composite. This means taking the SAT multiple times almost always helps — there is no penalty for additional attempts.
Use College Board institution code <strong>6997</strong> when sending official SAT score reports to IIIT Hyderabad. Scores must be received by the deadline — for DASA 2025, this is <strong>31 May 2025</strong>. EduQuest will guide you through the score-sending process to ensure there are no errors or delays.
Yes — these are completely independent application processes. You can apply to IIIT Hyderabad through the centralized DASA portal and to BITS Pilani through the ISA channel at the same time using the same SAT score. EduQuest recommends applying to both to maximise your chances of securing a seat.
Yes. CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf) students admitted to IIIT Hyderabad under DASA pay <strong>domestic-level tuition fees</strong> rather than the higher international student rates. This is a significant financial advantage — the savings can run into several lakhs of rupees per academic year compared to international fee structures.
Most students achieve their target score within <strong>6–12 weeks</strong> of structured coaching, depending on their starting level. We take a diagnostic test on day one, build a personalised plan, and schedule your SAT dates with a 3–4 week buffer before the DASA score reporting deadline.
